The renowned comedian Antonio Gasalla, 83 years old, has been discharged from the Otamendi Sanatorium and has continued his recovery in a nursing home. About seven months ago, journalist Marcelo Polino, a friend of the actor, mentioned that Gasalla has cognitive problems and complications with his gastric button, which have caused him inflammation and a pulmonary infection.
Marcelo Polino has maintained a close relationship with Gasalla and his family since he was diagnosed with progressive senile dementia, becoming something of a spokesperson. The actor is accompanied in his daily life by his brother Carlos, his sister-in-law Nieves, and his nephew. An official medical report is expected soon, although the hospital has been tight-lipped about his health status.
Gasalla will be honored on February 3 at the Carlos Awards in Villa Carlos Paz. Despite his chronic condition, the comedian has been hospitalized again due to neurological complications that supposedly may have taken a backward turn. He does not recognize a large part of the people around him, and his current situation remains confidential.
On previous occasions, Gasalla was hospitalized for two weeks last year due to pneumonia and other complications. His brother Carlos revealed that the actor also suffers from an untreated ulcer due to his cognitive problems, so he must be fed through a tube.
